Koushin Yamada is a globally active artist originally from Japan, currently residing in Stockholm, Sweden. As a boy in the ‘90s Tokyo, Koushin grew up under the influence of Japanese pop culture, which represents “the golden age” of manga comics. In an era of depression but blessed with new toys, he was inspired by the unique characters that appeared one after another. At the same time, he was inspired by the occult boom, typified by UFOs and other paranormal genres, and gradually deepened his interest in alternative theories or the wonders of nature and humans.

Koushin focuses on the curiosity about something unknown that arises in the fluctuations between "reality" and "unreality". His work, which depicts his mental images that are born out of curiosity, creates a playful and modern impression through bold motifs and powerful colors.

Koushin arbitrarily samples artifacts and mythical symbols, and bizarre sights are recreated as virtual admiration. Techniques such as symbolism and surrealism also influence his artwork.

His imagination expands through artwork. It gives a variety of interpretations to things that are overlooked and is also a manifestation of the willingness to enjoy the various possibilities of this world.
